Eight Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee
The Environmental Protection Committee held its eight sitting on 28 January and 2 February. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman Cedomir Jovanovic, and attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, Dr Miladin Avramov, Assistant Ministers Aleksandar Vesic, Ljiljana Stanojevic and Danica Bacanovic and associates, as well as a representative of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities.

Ninth Sitting of the Education Committee
At the ninth sitting, held on 2 February, the Education Committee discussed the National Education Council’s Activity Report for 2009. In the discussion, the Committee members made numerous objections stating that the Report is defective, that it gives an overview of the appalling state of education and that the National Education Council did not do its job well enough, because, among other things, it did not complete its main task – it did not pass an education strategy.

Deputies Visit Bulgaria
As part of a project intended to strengthen the poverty reduction capacities of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia committees, members of seven chosen National Assembly committees visited Bulgaria between 25 and 29 January 2009. The visit was organised by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence in cooperation with the UNDP office.

Seventh Sitting of the Privatisation Committee
At the seventh sitting, the Privatisation Committee members considered the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development’s Reports on the Activities of the Privatisation Agency for November and December 2008 and the Agency’s Work Plans for December 2008 and January 2009. Also, the Committee discussed the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development’s Reports on the Activities of the Republic of Serbia Share Fund for November and December 2008, as well as the Information of the Privatisation Agency’s Bankruptcy Centre on the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings against Robne Kuce Beograd Enterprise and Company.
