NARS Speaker Receives Head of EU Delegation to Serbia
National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received Vincent Degert, Head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, to discuss the NARS Speaker’s upcoming visit to Brussels on 26 January 2011.This will be the NARS Speaker’s first visit to the European Parliament during which she is to meet with the European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, as well as the EP Delegation for Relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo, headed by Eduard Kukan.

Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Talks to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic received the Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr Ali Ahani at the National Assembly House. In the meeting, the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister opined that the parliamentary contacts between the Republic of Serbia and the Islamic Republic of Iran have been intensified, a fact greatly contributed to by the visit of National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic to Iran.

Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic Awarded for Contributions to Protection of Public from Tobacco Smoke Exposure
On 14 January, Serbian Minister of Health Prof. Dr Tomica Milosavljevic awarded Serbian National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic for her exceptional contributions to the protection of the public from exposure to second-hand smoke and caring for the health of Serbian citizens. The award was established by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, Serbian Public Health Institute “Dr. Milan Jovanovic Batut”, Tobacco Control Office and Smoking Prevention Commission so as to publicly recognise the individuals and institutions who had contributed to the implementation of the Law on the Protection of the Population from Exposure to Tobacco Smoke.

Eightieth Sitting of the Administrative Committee
At the sitting held on 29 December, the Administrative Committee considered deputy Gordana Rajkov’s request to exercise the right to payment of the difference between the full salary belonging to a deputy fully employed at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia from 14 February 2007 and payments made under the Administrative Committee’s decisions by 30 November 2010. The Committee accepted deputy Gordana Rajkov’s request and approved the payment.
