Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held under the state of emergency

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a session under the state of emergency on Thursday 13 March, beginning at 11 a.


The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a session under the state of emergency on Thursday 13 March, beginning at 11 a.m.

The session was presided over by the Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembyl, Gordana Comic.

The Vice-Chairperson informed the Deputies that the session was being held in accordance with Article 79, Paragraph 4 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and Article 4, Paragraph 4 of the Act on Measures Adopted in Case of a State of Emergency, according to which the National Assembly meets without being convened as soon as the President of the Republic proclaims a state of emergency.

The National Assembly observed a minute’s silence in honour of the tragically deceased Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Zoran Djindjic.

Vice-Chairperson Gordana Comic said that the Assembly had received the Proposal of the Government of Serbia for the proclamation of a state of emergency and the Order on special measures adopted under a state of emergency, issued by the acting President of the Republic, Natasa Micic, in order to prevent further consequences which could jeopardise the sovereignty, constitutional order and security of the Republic.

Having read the Order, the Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly concluded the session held under a state of emergency.
