Ninth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015
National Assembly Deputy Speaker MA Igor Becic convened the Ninth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015, for Monday, 25 May, starting at 10 am.
1. Bill amending and modifying the Law on Privatisation, submitted by the Government,
2. Bill amending and modifying the Law on Standardisation, submitted by the Government, and
3. Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Commissioner for Protection of Equality, submitted by the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues of the National Assembly.
The Chair, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic informed the MPs that the Ninth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly would be adjourned at 3 pm because of the Third Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015 convened for 4 pm, at which the MPs would be addressed by President of the Republic of Italy Sergio Mattarella.
The National Assembly accepted the proposal of MP Zoran Babic to complete a joint debate in principle on items 1 and 2 on the agenda.
The National Assembly then commenced the joint debate in principle on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Privatisation and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Standardisation, elaborated, on the behalf of the submitter, by Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic.
The Chair, National Assembly Deputy Speaker MA Igor Becic then adjourned the sitting and invited the MPs to attend the Third Special Sitting of the National Assembly.
In the continuation of the Ninth Sitting, the National Assembly conducted and concluded the joint debate in principle on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Privatisation and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Standardisation.
The National Assembly then proceeded to commence and, by the end of the day, conclude a single debate on the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Commissioner for Protection of Equality, submitted by the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues and elaborated by Committee Chairman Dr Aleksandar Martinovic.
On the third day of the proceedings, 27 May, the MPs conducted a debate in detail on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Privatisation.
The Chair, National Assembly Deputy Speaker MA Igor Becic greeted, on the behalf of the MP and himself, the representatives of the Youth Office of the Municipality of Zvezdara and the participants of the Helsinki +40 seminar who watched part of the sitting from the gallery of the Grand Hall of the National Assembly House.
By the end of the day, the National Assembly had completed the debate in detail on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Privatisation, as well as a debate in detail on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Standardisation.
At the proposal of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group, the National Assembly included the Proposal of the Decision amending and modifying the Decision on the Election of Members and Deputy Members of the Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by MP Zoran Babic on 25 May 2015, into the agenda of the Ninth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015.
As the National Assembly completed a single debate on the Decision Proposal, and had already completed the debate all the other items on the agenda, National Assembly Deputy Speaker MA Igor Becic set Wednesday, 27 May 2015, as Voting Day on all the items on the agenda for the Ninth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015, starting at 3.40 pm.
Voting Day
On Voting Day, 27 May, the National Assembly passed the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Privatisation and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Standardisation.
By majority vote, the National Assembly also adopted the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Commissioner for Protection of Equality i.e. elected Brankica Jankovic Commissioner for Protection of Equality by 151 votes. National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic congratulated her on the behalf of the MPs and herself, and wished her success.
The National Assembly also passed the Proposal of the Decision amending and modifying the Decision on the Election of Members and Deputy Members of the Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
On Voting Day, the National Assembly also ruled on the violations of the Rules of Procedure the MPs complained of in the course of the sitting and decided that none of the provisions of the Rules of Procedure had been violated.
As the National Assembly had completed the debate on all the items on the agenda and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic concluded the Ninth Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015.
The completion of the sitting ended the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015, followed by the Serbian national anthem performed by the Ecumenical men’s choir – Choir of the Belgrade Archbishopric, with conductor Branislav Prokic.
