Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with India Meet with Indian Ambassador to Serbia

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with India, Zoran Kasalovic, and Group members met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Indian Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Nengcha Lhouvum Mukhopadhaya.


In the meeting, the two sides agreed in their wish to boost the future cooperation between Serbia and India at all levels and parliamentary cooperation in particular.
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, Zoran Kasalovic, stressed that the relations between Serbia and India are good, but, despite the two nations being so distant territorially, there is room to establish cooperation in other spheres such as economy, culture, education and science.
Kasalovic also thanked the Indian Ambassador for India’s principled support of Serbia’s efforts to maintain its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Indian Ambassador was pleased by the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group composed of representatives from different political parties, which is an important instrument for the improvement of future cooperation. Speaking of cooperation, the Indian Ambassador offered Serbia to join its professional training programmes covering more than 100 different fields such as information technology, pharmacy, tourism and education.
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, MPs Janko Veselinovic, Nebojsa Zelenovic, Vladimir Marinkovic, Sanda Raskovic Ivic and Vesna Milekic, opined that meetings between the two parliamentary friendship groups can lend significant impulse to the improvement of overall relations between Serbia and India, and in addition to the abovementioned areas of cooperation, also proposed student and university professor exchange programmes and an improvement of study programmes.
