Fourth Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2007

For the Fourth Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2007, convened by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Oliver Dulic, for 24 November, and starting after the completion of the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2007, the National Assembly adopted the following agenda:1. The Bill on the President of the Republic and2. The Bill on the Republic Presidential Election.



For the Fourth Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2007, convened by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Oliver Dulic, for 24 November, and starting after the completion of the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2007, the National Assembly adopted the following agenda:

1. The Bill on the President of the Republic and

2. The Bill on the Republic Presidential Election.

On the second day of the session, 26 November, the National Assembly conducted a unified discussion in principle on the bills on the President of the Republic and the Republic Presidential Election.

The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Milan Markovic, elaborated the Government’s bills on the President of the Republic and the Republic Presidential Election which align these acts with the Serbian Constitution and whose adoption fulfils the obligations set forth by the Constitutional Law.

Markovic stated that the Bill on the President of the Republic regulates his position, characteristics of the mandate, conditions for fulfilling his function, authority and electoral rules. He explained that it states that the mandate lasts five years, that the president cannot be reelected more than twice for the function, no matter how long his first and second mandate lasted. When unable to do his duties, the President of the Republic is to be substituted by the Speaker of the National Assembly up to three months, Minister Markovic added and went on to expound on the other proposed acts.

By the end of the work day the members of parliament completed the unified discussion in principle on the bills on the President of the Republic and the Republic Presidential Election.

On the third day of the session, 28 November, the National Assembly commenced a discussion in detail of the Bill on the President of the Republic.

On the fourth day of the session, 29 November, the National Assembly continued the discussion in detail of the Bill on the President of the Republic.


Voting Day

On the Voting Day, 3 December, the National Assembly adopted the Bill on the President of the Republic and the Bill on the Republic Presidential Elections in their entirety.

Since the National Assembly had conducted discussions on all the items on the agenda and decided upon them, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Oliver Dulic, concluded the Fourth Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2007.
