Third Sitting of the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia
The Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia held its third sitting on 12 November 2008. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Branimir Djokic and attended by the Minister of the Diaspora, Srdjan Sreckovic and associates, the Director of the Directorate of Development, Diaspora and Social Security Conventions, Vladislav Blagojevic and Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner of the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia.

First Sitting of the Poverty Reduction Committee
The first sitting of the Poverty Reduction Committee was convened under the Rules of Procedure by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic. Until the election of Committee Chairperson, the sitting was chaired by the oldest Committee member, deputy Jovan Damjanovic from the Serbian Radical Party Deputy Group.

Sixth Sitting of the Industry Committee
At the sixth sitting, held on 12 November, the Industry Committee members discussed the Bill on Pipeline Transport of Gas and Liquid Hydrocarbons and Distribution of Gas Hydrocarbons, as well as the 2009 financial plan of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia.

National Assembly Speaker Receives Jean-Louis Laurens
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today the Director General of the Council of Europe Directorate General of Democracy and Political Affairs, Jean-Louis Laurens, with whom she spoke of the fulfillment of the obligations undertaken on Serbia’s joining the Council of Europe.

National Assembly Speaker Talks to Portuguese President and Foreign Minister
The President of Portugal, Anibal Cavaco Silva received the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic today in Lisbon. The Portuguese President and the National Assembly Speaker talked about the process of Serbia’s accession to the European Union and gaining the status of candidate for EU membership, as well as the economic cooperation between the two countries and the Kosovo-Metohija issue.

National Assembly Speaker Meets Portuguese Parliament Speaker
Today, in Lisbon, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Portugal, Jaime Jose Matos da Gama received the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, with the highest honours. In a very open and friendly talk, experiences of bilateral relations and future cooperation between the two parliaments were exchanged.

Third Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee
At the third sitting, held on 6 November, the Foreign Affairs Committee conducted an interview with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Great Britain, Prof. Dr Dejan Popovic, before his departure for diplomatic duty. The sitting was chaired by Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic. Presenting the programme of his future activities, Ambassador Popovic pointed out the necessity to essentially further bilateral relations with Great Britain, a permanent member of the UN Security Council with special ties to the USA and one of the most influential members of the European Union.
