At the sitting held on 29 June, the Committee on Defense and Security considered the Security Information Agency’s (BIA) Activity Report covering period November 2009 – April 2010 and the Security Information Agency’s Report on the security situation in the Republic of Serbia.

The VOA’s Reports were presented to the Committee members by BIA Director Sasa Vukadinovic. In his address he stressed that the security situation in the Republic of Serbia was stable, but that the security of Serbia and its citizens was being compromised by Albanian separatists and terrorists, as well as organised crime.

In the discussion, the Committee members and deputies attending the Committee sitting posed various questions to the BIA representatives asking primarily how the information of the alleged assassination plot against the President of the Serbian Progressive Party Tomislav Nikolic made its way to the public.

Following the discussion, the Committee adopted Security Information Agency’s (BIA) Activity Report covering period November 2009 – April 2010 and the Security Information Agency’s Report on the security situation in the Republic of Serbia, by a majority of votes.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Deputy Chairman, Dusan Bajatovic.
