Thirtieth Sitting of the Committee on Defense and Security
At the thirtieth sitting held on 30 June, the Committee on Defense and Security considered the Report on the security situation and the activity of the Ministry of Interior (MUP) of the Republic of Serbia in 2009.Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic took part in the Committee sitting which was also attended by the highest officials of the Ministry of Interior and the police.

Presenting the Ministry’s 2009 Activity Report to the Committee members, Minister Dacic declared the security situation in Serbia stable, but added that there are certain security risks regarding territorial integrity and that the situation in Kosovo-Metohija is still difficult and fraught with security pressure and danger for the remaining Serbian and non-Albanian population.
Following the Minister’s exhaustive exposition, the Committee members gave a positive evaluation of the work of the MUP representatives and the police in 2009 expressing belief that the positive trend would continue this year. During the discussion, the Committee members and deputies attending the Committee sitting posed numerous questions which were partially answered by Minister Dacic at the sitting, while the deputies would receive answers to the rest at a later date.
