Third Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee
At the sitting held on 12 May 2014, the Foreign Affairs Committee adopted several initiatives for National Assembly delegation visits in the upcoming period. The Committee members also adopted the reports on visits and contacts realised in the previous period.
The Committee members then proceeded to conduct an interview with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada Mihailo Papazoglu, before his deployment to diplomatic duty.
Ambassador Papazoglu underlined the importance of the existing interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries and the potential for its further development especially via the activities of parliamentary friendship groups and within international parliamentary organisations.
The Ambassador also spoke of Canada’s considerable investment into Serbia especially in the spheres of energy and mining, also mentioning the establishment of Canada-Serbia chamber of commerce. In his meeting with the MPs he also discussed the importance of cooperation with the Serbian diaspora in Canada.
The sitting was chaired by Dr Dijana Vukomanovic, Committee Deputy Chairperson.
