The National Assembly’s Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Mexico marks 75 years of friendship between the two countries
Members of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Mexico mark today 75 years since the establishment of Serbia - Mexico diplomatic relations.
This is an occasion to remember that Mexico stood by our side in the most difficult times, during Yugoslavia’s breakup period, when many countries suspended diplomatic relations or left their diplomatic missions in Belgrade. Mexico stood by us then, as it stands today. We would like to take this opportunity to extend gratitude to Mexico for respecting territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution 1244.
Hopefully, the traditionally good friendship and good relations so far will be a future obligation and an incentive for building up better relations and future cooperation of higher quality, in the mutual interest of our peoples. We are certain that Parliaments and Serbian MPs gathered in the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Mexico, as well as the Mexican MPs gathered in the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Serbia will make a significant contribution to development of close relations.
The National Assembly’s Parliamentary Group of Friendship with the Mexico consists of 30 members and it is chaired by Ms. Ana Karadzic. “Today’s jubilee indicates a multi-decade candid friendship, but it also obliges us to invest all the possible efforts to improve our cooperation at all levels and thus reaffirm the high level of our friendship” - says the Group’s Chair about the jubilee.
