The topic of the general debate of the 65th PABSEC General Assembly is "Strengthening Connectivity in the PABSEC Region and Enhancing Mobility through Development of Smart and Sustainable Transport Infrastructure".

In her presentation, the Head of the National Assembly standing delegation to PABSEC, Jasmina Obradovic, emphasised that the Republic of Serbia consistently supports all international and regional efforts aimed at sustainable development, areas of transport and infrastructure included. Serbia is a reliable partner within initiatives such as the Berlin Process, Western Balkans Transport Community, EU Strategy for the Danube Region, as well as the Belt and Road initiative. Serbia's strategic goal is full membership in the European Union and harmonisation with the European Green Deal and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) represents a significant step in that direction. In this spirit, Serbia also supports the key recommendations of the International Transport Forum, which call for: electrification of road transport, development of charging infrastructure and alternative fuels, a shift to less carbon-intensive modes such as rail, public transport, cycling and walking, transport demand management and territorial development planning in order to reduce the need for transportation and strengthen the resilience of transport systems to climate and other shocks. She confirmed Serbia's readiness to continue joint projects in the BSEC region and work on building smart, intermodal, digitally connected and climate-resilient transport networks in our region.

The meeting is attended by members of the standing delegations of the parliaments of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine, with the participation of representatives of the PABSEC International Secretariat and experts. The participants were also addressed by the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova.
