Sixth Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee

The Environmental Protection Committee held its sixth sitting on 26 and 27 November. At the beginning of the sitting, on 26 November, the Committee members discussed in principle the Bill on Waste Management and the Bill on Packaging and Packaging Waste submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.



The Environmental Protection Committee held its sixth sitting on 26 and 27 November. At the beginning of the sitting, on 26 November, the Committee members discussed in principle the Bill on Waste Management and the Bill on Packaging and Packaging Waste submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The Committee also completed a unified discussion on the Bill on the Confirmation of the Amendments to Annex B of the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade with amendments and modifications, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Cedomir Jovanovic, and attended, on the behalf of the submitters, by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Dr Miladin Avramov, Assistant Ministers Aleksandar Vesic and Valentina Radjenovic and associates.

Following the discussion on the items on the agenda, the Committee members accepted in principle the bills on Waste Management, on Packaging and Packaging Waste, on the Confirmation of the Amendments to Annex B of the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, on the Confirmation of the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters and on the Confirmation of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade with amendments and modifications.

In the continuation, on 27 November, the Committee members completed a discussion in principle on the Bill on the Protection against Non-Ionizing Radiation, the Bill on the Protection against Ionizing Radiation and Nuclear Safety and the Bill on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

Following the debate on all the items on the agenda, the Committee members adopted in principle the bills on the Protection against Non-Ionizing Radiation, on the Protection against Ionizing Radiation and Nuclear Safety and on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.
