Second Sitting of the Committee on the Rights of the Child

At the second sitting of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, held on 19 October, the Committee members unanimously adopted the Decision to organise a public hearing on “Protecting Children from Internet Abuse”.


The public hearing, co-organised by the National Assembly and UNICEF, will be held on 17 November 2012, at the National Assembly Building, 14 Kralja Milana Street, starting t 11 am. In addition to the Committee members, the hearing will also be attended by the Ombudsman and Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic, Deputy Ombudsman for Child Rights Tamara Luksic Orlandic, Equality Protection Commissioner Nevena Petrusic, Special Prosecutor for High-Tech Crime Branko Stamenkovic and representatives of the Council for Child Rights of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The Committee members also decided to visit “Dr Milan Petrovic” special elementary and high-school in Novi Sad, attended 1200 children with developmental difficulties, as well as a regular school attended, as part of the inclusion programme, by children with developmental difficulties, on 20 November, Universal Children's Day.
Representatives of UNICEF in Serbia participated in the Committee’s work.

The sitting was chaired by MA Nebojsa Stefanovic, Committee Chairman.
