Ninth Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 10 June, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government discussed and decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Public Prosecutors for Appellate Public Prosecutor’s Offices, submitted by the Government.


The Committee members considered the High Judicial Council 2013 Activity Report, presented by High Judicial Council President Dragomir Milojevic. The Committee decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the High Judicial Council 2013 Activity Report.

The State Prosecutorial Council 2013 Activity Report, submitted by the State Prosecutorial Council, was elaborated by Branko Stamenkovic, member of the State Prosecutorial Council. He stressed that the State Prosecutorial Council had completed all the activities and tasks planned for 2013 and commenced the realisation of long-term programmes for the strengthening of the Council’s human, material and organisational capacities. The Committee members decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the State Prosecutorial Council 2013 Activity Report.

The Committee members also considered the 2013 Report on the public prosecutor’s offices’ activities on the suppression of crime and protection of constitutionality and legality, submitted by the Republic Public Prosecutor. The Report was presented by Gordana Janicijevic, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor. She said that the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office continued to work on its priorities – combating corruption and organised crime, as well as all other types of crime. Following a short debate the Committee members decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the 2013 Report on the public prosecutor’s offices activities on the suppression of crime and protection of constitutionality and legality.

The Committee members proceeded to appoint Tanja Tomasevic Damnjanovic, Meho Omerovic and Nedjo Jovanovic members of the Commission for the Control of the Execution of Criminal Sanctions.

The Committee members also appointed Biljana Ilic Stosic, the Committee’s representative member of the Commission Monitoring the Execution of the National Action Plan for the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia (2010-2015).

The sitting was chaired by Petar Petrovic, Committee Chairman.
