National Assembly, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and UNDP Sign Statement of Cooperation, Public Finance Supervision Portal Launched
Today, at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the UNDP signed a Statement of Cooperation for the realisation of stage two of project Strengthening the Oversight Role and Transparency of the National Assembly.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending Veroljub Arsic signed the Statement of Cooperation on the behalf of the National Assembly, saying it was a great honour to be signing this agreement today and thanking the UNDP for helping the National Assembly launch the Public Finance Supervision Portal.
“By launching the Public Finance Supervision Portal, the National Assembly now ranks first among the parliaments in the region. Recently, we signed an agreement establishing a Parliamentary Budget Office, so that now the National Assembly boasts two bodies responsible for public finance supervision. I am proud to say that no parliament in the world has two bodies of that kind at the moment”, stressed Arsic.
The Public Finance Supervision Portal will first be available to the members of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending and the MPs, and then to the general public as well.
“This Government and the National Assembly have nothing to hide from the citizens, so we have enabled full insight into the way budget funds are spent”, concluded Arsic.
On the behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the UNDP, the Statement of Cooperation was signed by Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Jean-Daniel Ruch and UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Serbia Irena Vojackova–Sollorano.
