The mutual intention to strengthen relations is also supported by today's signing of the Agreement between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Italy, in accordance with the agreement reached during the meeting between National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic, and Senator Craxi, at the end of last year in Rome.

In addition to strengthening parliamentary cooperation and dialogue through cooperation between the two Committees, this Agreement is significant because of the special nature of the centuries of relations connecting Italy and Serbia and at the same time, because it is the first document that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has signed with a foreign affairs committee of another country.

"We believe that international cooperation contributes significantly to the development of bilateral relations, bringing peoples closer together, as well as preserving the historical and cultural ties that unite two countries. Also, believing in the importance of parliamentary democracy as an instrument for the development of relations and in the necessity of in-depth dialogue on numerous foreign policy and defence topics, today we have established a new and deeper form of cooperation, which lends additional momentum to bilateral relations," emphasised National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus.

The two-day visit to the Republic of Italy with Deputy Speaker Ragus includes Foreign Affairs Committee members, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Italy Jovan Palalic, MP Biljana Pantic Pilja and MP Dobrica Veselinovic.
