Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Sovereign Military Order of Malta Speak to Ambassador Di Luca
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Serbia, Alberto Di Luca.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Head of the PFG with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic thanked Ambassador Di Luca for the assistance the Order offered Serbia during last year’s catastrophic floods. He also thanked the Order for its perseverance regarding Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in Kosovo-Metohija, as well as all of its humanitarian activities in Serbia.
The Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Serbia, Alberto Di Luca informed the PFG members about the Make a Wish project which has so far raised 100,000 EUR to be donated to the children from the areas devastated by the floods. He asked the PFG members to suggest municipalities for the final event of the project, adding that the project could turn into a long-term action. Ambassador Di Luca reminded the PFG members of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta’s humanitarian diplomacy and asked the Serbian parliamentarians for support in realising a postal agreement with Serbia, for the implementation of the previously signed agreement on humanitarian aid and donations and for a list of end users of said donations, to be drafted by the relevant Serbian authorities.
PFG member Dr Vesna Rakonjac urged to sign an agreement between Serbia and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta on humanitarian aid and donations which would make it possible for the end users to receive said aid on time. She also suggested that the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction, which she heads, meet with the relevant state bodies in early September to collate a list of institutions in need of humanitarian aid and donations from the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Besides the Head of the PFG with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, the meeting with the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Serbia was also attended by PFG members Dr Vesna Rakonjac, Prof. Dr Branko Djurovic, Velinka Tosic, Nevena Stojanovic, Nebojsa Tatomir and Sasa Maksimovic.
