Gojkovic in Turkey at TANAP and TAP Pipelines Connecting Ceremony: Serbia Affirms Participation in Common Vision of Building Bridges of Friendship

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic, heading the delegation of the Republic of Serbia, took part in the ceremony marking the closing of the work on the TANAP gas pipeline project and its connection with the TAP pipeline, in the Turkish town of Ipsala.

The delegation of the Republic of Serbia also included Minister of Mining and Energy Alaksandar Antic.

Gojkovic conveyed the greetings of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to the host Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying how pleased she was that Serbia is part of today’s ceremony.

After the ceremony Gojkovic said that the completion of the work on the gas pipeline project and its connection with TAP pipeline is a very important event that will advance the energy connectivity of this part of Europe and contribute to the region’s investment climate.

“This will advance overall regional cooperation which is one of Serbia’s chief goals. As we well know, no country in the region can exist on its own and have all the energy capacities it needs”, said Gojkovic adding that we all have to connect and cooperate and share the advantages of that cooperation.

The Serbian Assembly Speaker said that that is why Serbia wants the region connected with infrastructure projects and this project will undoubtedly contribute to the development of the whole region and each of the countries in it.

The ceremony was also attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and energy ministers of a number of countries.
