At the sitting held on 22 February, the members of the Finance Committee discussed the Formulation of the Bill amending and modifying the Law on the State Audit Institution, the Finance Committee’s 2009 Activity Report and the Finance Committee’s 2010 Activity Plan Proposal.

The sitting was chaired by Zoran Krasic, Committee Chairman, and attended by the SAI Council President Radoslav Sretenovic and associates and a representative of the Ministry of Finance.

In the discussion on the first item on the agenda - Formulation of the Bill amending and modifying the Law on the State Audit Institution, it was repeated that the initiative to amend the Law on SAI is a realisation of the conclusion adopted at the Finance Committee’s 43^rd sitting and that the Committee members endorse it. The amendments to the existing Law pertain to the improvement of the auditors’ material position which would enable the employment of quality staff by the SAI thus contributing to the institution’s efficiency. The Committee also received a response from the Ministry of Finance on the securement of 25 million RSD worth of funds from the budget reserves, necessary for the amendment of the Law on SAI.

The Committee members also discussed the justifiability of an institutional bonus for SAI employees, tying their wages to certain coefficients, possible extension of auditors’ term of office by the amendments to the Law on SAI and the issue of formal legal submitter of the Bill.

The Committee members went on to consider the Finance Committee’s 2009 Activity Report and the Finance Committee’s 2010 Activity Plan Proposal.
