Forty-Fifth Sitting of the Committee on Science and Technological Development

The Committee on Science and Technological Development held its forty-fifth sitting on 9 May 2011. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic.



The Committee on Science and Technological Development held its forty-fifth sitting on 9 May 2011. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic. The sitting was attended by Assistant Minister of Economy and Regional Development Jelena Popovic.

The Committee considered the Bill on Control of Precious Metal Objects, submitted by the Government, in principle. Elaborating the Bill, the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development said that the existing Law on Control of Precious Metal Objects was adopted during the time of the Serbia and Montenegro state community and the Bill effects the necessary harmonisation with the legal system of the Republic of Serbia, as well as with the Law on Ministries, Law on State Administration and international legislation. The Ministry representative pointed out that the Bill defines the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Measurements and Precious Metals and introduces the recognition of foreign stamps according to European directives. The adoption of the Bill on Control of Precious Metal Objects is expected to strengthen this economic branch, strengthen the market of precious metal objects and producer, importer and consumer protection.

The Committee members unanimously adopted the Bill on Control of Precious Metal Objects in principle, and appointed Committee Deputy Chairman Pavel Marcok the Committee’s rapporteur at the National Assembly sitting.

In the continuation, Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic announced that a meeting will be held between the representatives of the Education Committee, Culture and Information Committee and Committee on Science and Technological Development and members of the Czech Parliament on 24 May at the National Assembly House. Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic and Committee Deputy Chairman Pavel Marcok, who is also the president of the National Assembly’s Friendship Group with the Czech Republic, were appointed the Committee’s representatives at the meeting.
