Foreign Affairs committee meets with Serbia and Montenegro parliament representatives

Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee met representatives of the Parliament of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro on 29 October.


Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee met representatives of the Parliament of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro on 29 October.

The meeting centred on issues faced by Serbia and Montenegro in international affairs and the possibilities of resolving them. Special attention was paid to relations between European institutions and Serbia and Montenegro, Council of Europe resolutions, and the participation of Serbia and Montenegro representatives at sessions of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.

Parliamentary representatives stressed the importance of reforming democratic institutions and informing media about parliamentary c-operation in creating a better image of Serbia and Montenegro.

The parliamentarians concluded that it was essential to establish co-operation between committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Parliament of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as to intensify parliamentary diplomacy. A joint foreign relations strategy was also agreed on.
