Foreign Affairs Committee Member Aleksandar Mirkovic Meets with Workers' Party of Brazil Federal Deputy

Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Aleksandar Mirkovic met today with Jilmar Augustinho Tatto, federal deputy of the Workers' Party of the Federal Republic of Brazil.

Mirkovic and Tato discussed improving parliamentary cooperation, current events in the world, as well as topics related to politics at the local level.

Tatto, who is also the president of the parliamentary front for transport, a body voluntarily joined by deputies united around an idea, conveyed the greetings of the Brazilian leadership to friendly Serbia and emphasized the solidarity of the people of his country with the Serbian people. In the conversation, the official emphasized Brazil's aspiration for a contribution that leads to a better life and peace in the world, which is reflected in the progress in the fields of ecology, energy, environmental protection and agriculture.

Aleksandar Mirkovic thanked Brazil for respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country and not recognizing the independent state of Kosovo.

"You did not succumb to influence and pressure to violate the UN Charter. This is very important for Serbia, because Kosovo-Metohija is an integral part of Serbia. This historical injustice inflicted on Serbia is coming back like a boomerang and can today be seen in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Therefore, I would like to thank you especially for remaining consistent with the UN Charter, because in doing so you have preserved not only our sovereignty, but also the sovereignty of other countries in the world," said Mirkovic.

In the conversation, he emphasized that deepening parliamentary relations between Serbia and Brazil is high on the agenda of the National Assembly, and that Serbia, although it follows its European path, strives for cooperation with all friendly countries, as it pursues an independent and sovereign policy. Mirkovic emphasized that, thanks to the policy of President Aleksandar Vucic, we are today in the position to be good hosts to everyone, but above all to provide a better and higher quality of life to our citizens.

He also used the opportunity to invite his Brazilian colleague for his country to participate in the EXPO 2027 exhibition, which will be hosted by Serbia and the City of Belgrade.

The officials concluded that they share the same values and thoughts on topics of mutual interest, and they also exchanged opinions on issues related to policies at the local level, primarily those that lead to improving the quality of life of citizens in urban areas.
