Fifth Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality
At today’s sitting, the members of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality unanimously decided to organise a public hearing with the topic “Combating Domestic Violence” to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The public hearing will take place on Tuesday, 27 November 2012.
The Committee members also adopted a Decision on the formation of a number of working groups, viz.: Human Rights and Children’s Liberties Working Group, to be chaired by MP Zlata Djeric; National Minority Rights Working Group, to be chaired by MP Olena Papuga; Equality and Gender Parity Working Group, to be chaired by MP Tamara Tripic; Civic Petitions and Proposals Working Group, to be chaired by MP Vera Paunovic and Working Group for Relations with Churches and Religious Communities, to be chaired by MP Snezana Stojanovic Plavsic.
In the continuation, the Committee Chairman invited the Committee members to take part in the upcoming seminar on democracy and equality, to be held from 2 to 4 November, in Zrenjanin, the seminar organised by the European Movement in Serbia on 5 November, dealing with the protection of women from violence, as well as the seminar organised by the OSCE Mission to Serbia from 6 to 8 November, in Arandjelovac, dealing with the violations of the rights of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia in the sphere of security.
The Committee also established the composition of the delegation to represent it during the study visit to the Austrian Parliament from 9 to 12 December. The delegation will comprise Committee members Vera Paunovic, Bojana Bozanic and Zlata Djeric.
The Committee’s delegation to take part in the seminar on human and women’s rights protection organised by the European Parliament from 13 to 15 November in Brussels, will comprise Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic and Committee members Tamara Tripic and Jelena Budimirovic.
