The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, convened the Fifth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006 for Wednesday 19 July, at the request of 92 deputies, who had established the following agenda:

    1. Bill Repealing the Police Academy Act, proposed by the Government; and

    2. Bill Ratifying the Agreement Between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro Regulating Membership in International Financial Organisations and Defining Financial Rights and Obligations, proposed by the Government.

After the deputies were addressed by the Minister of the Interior, Dragan Jocic, the National Assembly concluded discussion in principle on the Bill Repealing the Police Academy Act; after the Minister of Finance, Mladjan Dinkic, provided introductory explanations for the Bill Ratifying the Agreement Between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro Regulating Membership in International Financial Organisations and Defining Financial Rights and Obligations, the Assembly concluded discussion in principle on that piece of legislation as well.

At the proposal of the Administrative Committee, the National Assembly noted that the mandate of deputy Dr Miroslav Nedeljkovic, elected from the Serbian Radical Party – Dr Vojislav Seselj Electoral List, had terminated before the expiry of the term he had been elected to, on the date of his death.

At the Voting Day sitting, called by the Chairman immediately after discussion ended, the National Assembly adopted, in their entirety, the Bill Repealing the Police Academy Act and the Bill Ratifying the Agreement Between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro Regulating Membership in International Financial Organisations and Defining Financial Rights and Obligations.

Formally concluding the Fifth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006, Mr Markovic thanked the deputies for their continued hard work and responsible behaviour, and reiterated that the present Assembly convocation had so far adopted 258 laws.
