Eleventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015

At the request of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic convened the Eleventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015, for Friday, 26 June 2015, starting at 10 am.


The request to hold the Eleventh Extraordinary Session specified the following agenda:

1. Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Information and Media,
2. Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Reciprocal Establishment of Cultural Centres.

The session was attended by Minister of Culture and Media Ivan Tasovac, State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and Media Sasa Mirkovic, Department Head at the Ministry of Culture and Media Snezana Pecancic, Department Head at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dragana Vujic and Group Chief at the Ministry of Culture and Media Dejan Stojanovic.

The National Assembly accepted the proposal of MP and National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic to complete a joint debate in principle and single debate on items 1 and 2 on the agenda.

The National Assembly then commenced the joint debate in principle and single debate on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Information and Media and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Reciprocal Establishment of Cultural Centres, submitted by the Government.

On the behalf of the submitter, the bills were elaborated by Minister of Culture and Media Ivan Tasovac.

By the end of the day, the National Assembly had completed the joint debate in principle and single debate on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Information and Media and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Reciprocal Establishment of Cultural Centres.

On the second day of the proceedings, 29 June, the National Assembly completed a debate in detail on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Information and Media.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate, in principle and in detail, on all the items on the agenda, the Chair, National Assembly Deputy Speaker MA Igor Becic, set Monday, 29 June, as Voting Day on all the items on the agenda for the Eleventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015, starting at 2.15 pm.

Voting Day

On Voting Day, 29 June, by majority vote, the National Assembly passed the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public Information and Media and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Reciprocal Establishment of Cultural Centres.

On Voting Day, the National Assembly also ruled on the violations of the Rules of Procedure the MPs complained of in the course of the session and decided that none of the provisions of the Rules of Procedure had been violated.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate on all the items on the agenda and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic concluded the Eleventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2015.
