Today at the National Assembly House, the members of the Committee on Defense and Security met with a delegation of the United States National Guard Bureau headed by General Craig McKinley. The delegation, comprising more than 30 members, included Ohio National Guard Commander, General Gregory Wayt and the meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick.

In the meeting, the officials exchanged opinions on all the aspects of military-military, military-civilian and civilian-civilian cooperation between Serbia and the US. Military cooperation between Serbia and the US was declared to be on the rise and it was stressed that Serbia is particularly interested in continuing the cooperation between the Serbian Army and Ohio National Guard established in 2006. The two delegations concluded that the cooperation between the Serbian Army and US National Guard can influence not only the military but cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries as well. The current issues in the relations between the US and Serbia were also mentioned in the meeting and it was concluded that the relations between the two countries should rest on what happens in the future, current mutual burdens notwithstanding.

The high delegation of the United States National Guard Bureau will be visiting Serbia between 10 and 13 September and will attend high-level meetings and various military activities part of the Interstate Partnership Programme between the Serbian Armed Forces and Ohio National Guard.
