Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Meets with Representatives of Alliance of Serbian Associations of Slovenia
On Wednesday, 4 June 2014, the Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Dr Janko Veselinovic and Committee member Aleksandar Cotric received Nikola Todorovic, Slovenian delegate in the Assembly of the Diaspora, and Milena Andjelic Djukic, professor at the University of Ljubljana, who delivered a truckload of relief for the flood-stricken areas of Serbia on the behalf of the Alliance of Serbian Associations of Slovenia.
This is the fourth delivery to date and, they said, the fifth would be dedicated to the furnishing of a school or kindergarten in Obrenovac.
Nikola Todorovic and Milena Andjelic Djukic said that, in organising the collection and delivery of relief, the Alliance of Serbian Associations of Slovenia enjoyed full support of the Serbian Embassy in Ljubljana and the Serbian Orthodox Church, AKUD “Kolo”, Slovenian authorities, the Red Cross and people of good will who showed selfless solidarity and humanity in the face of adversity.
Todorovic and Andjelic Djukic took the opportunity to once again bring up the status of Serbs in Slovenia since Serbs, though the second largest national community, are yet to be granted the status of national minority in Slovenia.
