6th session of the Committee on Petitions and Proposals

At its sixth session, held on 12 July, the Committee on Petitions and Proposals discussed a report relating to a petition submitted by a group of Belgrade parents claiming their children had died or been abducted at birth.


At its sixth session, held on 12 July, the Committee on Petitions and Proposals discussed a report relating to a petition submitted by a group of Belgrade parents claiming their children had died or been abducted at birth.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice took part in the session.

The Committee requested the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice to submit information on the number of criminal charges filed in connection with these claims, as well as on the number of cases concluded and the state of those not concluded.

It was agreed that the Ministry of Health should submit its opinion to the Committee on the existence of legal impediments to performing an inquiry, with the aim of changing the legislation.

At its next session, the Committee is to discuss information and proposals received; representatives of the parents will be invited to the session.
