59th Sitting of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications

At the sitting held on 24 February, the members of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR), submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by Slavica Visnjic, representative of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications. Visnjic said that the Protocol had been endorsed by domestic associations of carriers in view of the experience and analyses of the countries which had employed said protocol according to which the carriers’ liabilities are considerably more favourable than according to the Convention (CMR).

The Committee members also considered the Bill on the Confirmation of Annex no.3 of the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Infrastructure between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, submitted by the Government.
The representative of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Jelena Topalovic Kitanovic said that based on the minutes of the 4th meeting of the Serbia-Hungary-China Trilateral Working Group for the Belgrade-Budapest project held in Beijing on 19 November 2015, it was agreed that the Serbian and Chinese parties consider amendments to the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Infrastructure between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, which would include the procurement of locomotives and railway vehicles in the framework of bilateral cooperation.

The Committee members unanimously decided to accept the two bills.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Katarina Rakic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Ivana Nikolic, Dalibor Radicevic, Dr Vladimir Orlic, Ognjen Pantovic, Jasmina Karanac, Dragan Jovanovic, Milan Ljubic and Snezana Petrovic.
