National Assembly Speaker Meets with Australian Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia Peter George Truswell.

The officials affirmed their commitment to the intensification of bilateral relations and exchange of high-level visits, which would be exceptionally significant in view of the fact that the two countries will be marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.

The Parliament Speaker spoke of our country’s status as regards Eurointegration stressing that membership in the European Union remains Serbia’s strategic commitment and that a positive movement on that path would be a good signal for the citizens.

Ambassador Truswell said he also hopes Serbia would achieve progress on its European path as that it is an important matter for the country. He said that the Serbian diaspora in Australia is considerable and it could stimulate cooperation in areas such as the economy, business and information and communication technologies.

The officials agreed that the parliamentary cooperation can be raised to a higher level and that in the coming period they would work on finding projects that can yield mutually beneficial results.
