National Assembly Speaker in Official Visit to Finland
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic is in official visit to the Republic of Finland.
The National Assembly Speaker began her visit at the Finnish Parliament where she met with Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-aho, with whom she discussed strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Finland, exchanging experiences and the importance of political dialogue.
“Speaker Halla-aho visited Serbia in September 2024, and after he left, the Finnish Parliament set up a friendship group with Serbia. That is only one of the concrete results of our parliamentary diplomacy and a completely new channel of developing and strengthening relations between Serbia and Finland”, said the Assembly Speaker after the meeting.
In the course of the day, the National Assembly Speaker also met with the Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz and discussed the Finnish education system which is considered one of the best in the world. She stressed that Serbia wants to improve its education system and believes that the best was to do it is to exchange experiences with countries such as Finland.
The officials also discussed potential cooperation between the two countries’ educational and scientific institutions which would be an invaluable experience for Serbia, stressed the Assembly Speaker.
Speaker Brnabic then met with the Finnish Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand with whom she spoke about Serbia’s European integration and Finland’s support on that path. She reaffirmed that EU membership remains our country’s strategic goal.
The National Assembly Speaker followed part of the session of the Finnish Parliament from the diplomatic gallery.
Speaker Brnabic also meet with representatives of the Finnish Institute of Public Management (HAUS) and the Finnish Innovation Fund (SITRA).
After the visit the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia addressed the media.
