36th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 14 April, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government discussed, in detail, the Bill on Inspection Oversight, submitted by the Government.


The Committee members unanimously decided to propose that the National Assembly accept 38 of the 110 submitted amendments. The Committee also submitted three amendments of its own to the Bill on Inspection Oversight.
The Committee went on to review the Ombudsman’s 2014 Regular Annual Report. The Report was elaborated by Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic. He estimated that the situation in the judiciary is better than in 2013, but stressed that there is still room to improve the functioning of courts. The Report also lists the housing and healthcare of incarcerated persons as a problem.
Committee Chairman Petar Petrovic said that the Committee will be discussing and adopting a Conclusion Proposal on the Ombudsman’s 2014 Regular Annual Report at one of the upcoming sittings.

The sitting was chaired by Petar Petrovic, Committee Chairman.
