34th Sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee
At the sitting held on 25 May 2015, the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee discussed and accepted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Defence Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Belarus.
The sitting was attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and associates, and representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Speaking of the Ministry of Defence Activity Information, Minister Gasic briefed the Committee members on the activities conducted in the first three months of the year. He said that, following the situation in Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina along with the other security structures in the country, the Ministry had employed all measures at its disposal to make sure the terrorism does not spread onto the territory of Serbia, and the Serbian Armed Forces are ready and capable of responding and protecting the country’s security interests. The Plan for the use of the Armed Forces has been updated, the annual assessment of risk and threat challenges in the Republic of Serbia in 2015 has also been completed and there have been no security threats along the administrative line toward the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija and the land security zone, stressed Gasic.
“Out of the 184 activities planned for the first three months of 2015, 140 have been realised. The activities were conducted through the realisation of multilateral and bilateral activities aimed at preparation and participation in multinational operations, joint exercises and training, education and specialisation, standardisation, military medical and economic cooperation, and signing of international treaties and protocols”, said the Minister.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Marija Obradovic.
