33th Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy

At the sitting held on 20 December 2021, the members of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy considered, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Special Authorities for the Sake of Efficient Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by Vladimir Maric, Director of the Intellectual Property Office, and senior advisor Jelica Trninic who said that the amendments concern the Tax Administration reform and action plan, viz. the transference of authority for determining violations of intellectual property rights, particularly the right to computer programmes and databases, as Tax Administration’s secondary activities, from the Ministry of Finance – Tax Administration, to the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication – market inspection.

Following the presentation and discussion, the Committee accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Special Authorities for the Sake of Efficient Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Veroljub Arsic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Zoran Tomic, Ana Beloica, Dr Ilija Zivotic, Snezana Petrovic, Dragomir Karic, Vesna Stambolic, Branimir Jovanovic, Adrijana Pupovac, Snezana Paunovic, Nenad Krstic and Ivana Popovic.
