At the sitting held on 16 April 2013, the Security Services Control Committee considered and adopted the Inspector General’s activity reports on the Military Security Agency and Military Intelligence Agency.

This was the first time than the Inspector General’s report has been debated at the sitting of the committee in charge of controlling the work of security services, thus establishing the future lasting cooperation with the services’ Inspector General as a significant element of institutional civil and democratic control of the security services’ work. The Committee fully endorsed the services’ Inspector General’s control of the work of the Defence Ministry’s security services, declaring this type of control important from the aspect of legality and regularity of the security services’ work. The Committee concluded that the security services should apply the recommendations and measures outlined in the Inspector General’s Report in the upcoming period, which would prove conducive to the further improvement of the legality and efficiency of the security services’ work.
In the upcoming period, the Committee will hold sittings to debate the reports of the Defence Ministry’s security services, which will be followed by supervisory visits to all the security services of the Republic of Serbia, thus fulfilling its legal authority in the sphere of supervision and control of the security services’ work, and the legality of the security services’ work in particular.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Jadranka Joksimovic.
