Birth of a law

When does a law come into effect?

A law comes into effect on the eighth day counting from the day it was published in “The Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia”.
A law can come into effect earlier if there are particularly valid reasons for this that must be determined at the time of adoption (for example, ''force majeure”, interests related to defense and security, etc.).
A law may contain a provision which allows that certain Articles, or the entire law, shall come into effect after the expiration of a certain period of time, or on a specifically set date.
