We Need to Continue Promoting Roma Rights and Full Social Inclusion Says National Assembly Speaker on International Roma Day
On the occasion of 8 April, International Roma Day, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic would like to point out that, despite the progress made as regards the legal and institutional protection of the Roma, we need to continue promoting Roma rights and their full social inclusion.
Serbia is firmly committed to building a tolerant society, grounded in respect of human rights, free of discrimination against any social group, Roma included, a feat that demands everybody’s concentrated effort.
The National Assembly will continue to work on improving the legal framework concerning human and minority rights and apply control mechanisms at its disposal to affect a more efficient implementation of the existing laws.
