At the twenty-ninth sitting, held on 29 December, the Legislative Committee discussed the new Bill modifying the Criminal Procedure Code, submitted by the Government and unanimously deemed it in line with the country’s constitutional and legal system.

The Committee discussed the modified amendments to the Republic of Serbia Budget Bill, submitted by deputies Milos Aligrudic and Aleksandar Pejcic and deemed them legally feasible. The Committee deemed the modified amendment submitted to the Bill by Veroljub Arsic not in line with the Constitution and the Budget System Law.

At the sitting, the Committee commenced a discussion on giving an opinion to the Serbian Constitutional Court regarding the two initiatives to estimate the constitutionality of the provisions of article 9, article 10 paragraph 2, article 11 and article 12 paragraph 2 of the Agreement verified by the Law on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the oil and gas sectors (“RS Official Gazette – International Contracts”, no. 83/08).

The Committee sitting was attended by the members of the Liberal Democratic Party Deputy Group, and the head of the LDP Deputy Group Cedomir Jovanovic talked about the initiative on the behalf of the submitters.

The Committee unanimously concluded to postpone voting on the Serbian Constitutional Court’s request that the Legislative Committee give its opinion on the legality of the LDP initiative to estimate the constitutionality of certain provisions of the Agreement. The Committee will continue the discussion it commenced and take a position regarding this issue in the continuation of the sitting to be scheduled for the first working week following New Year.
