Thirtieth Sitting of the European Integrations Committee

At the sitting held on 19 October, the European Integrations Committee debated in principle several Bills on the agenda for the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2010. Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning elaborated the Bills amending and modifying the: Law on Chemicals, Law on Biocides, Law on Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, Law on Environmental Noise Protection, Law on Environmental Protection and Law on Waste Management.



At the sitting held on 19 October, the European Integrations Committee debated in principle several Bills on the agenda for the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2010.

Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning elaborated the Bills amending and modifying the: Law on Chemicals, Law on Biocides, Law on Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, Law on Environmental Noise Protection, Law on Environmental Protection and Law on Waste Management. On the occasion, they stressed that these are minor amendments and modifications to the abovementioned laws to harmonise them with European directives or simply specify some of the provisions. By-laws would need to be passed for complete harmonisation with European Union directives, which will organise the matter regulated by these laws, stated the representatives of the submitters.

The representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning also explained the new Bill on Meteorological and Hydrological Activities which should enable Serbia to join the European network of these activities.

Explaining the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Tourism, the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development stressed that the Law was being adjusted to the new provisions in the Law on Consumer Protection.

The innovations in the Bill on Hazardous Cargo Transportation were presented by a representative of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The Committee endorsed the Bills in principle, by a majority of votes.

The sitting was chaired by Laszlo Varga, Committee Chairman.
