Slovenia Supports Serbia and Western Balkans’ Integration into European Union

The delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee headed by Marina Ragus, National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Committee Chairperson, is visiting Slovenia, its first visit to a foreign country in the 14th legislature of the National Assembly, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Predrag Bakovic. The delegation comprises Committee members Katarina Stojanovic, Jovan Palalic and Vladimir Djordjevic.

The visit began with a meeting with the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Melita Gabric, and continued with meetings with National Assembly Vice President Meira Hot, the Committee on Foreign Policy, Committee on EU Affairs and the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia headed by Lena Grgurevic. The National Assembly delegation also met with representatives of Serbian associations in Slovenia with whom it spoke about the status of the Serbian community in the country.

“By visiting Slovenia, we wanted to once again, symbolically affirm our foreign policy priorities – European integration and regional cooperation. I believe that parliamentary cooperation can inspire and contribute to the further development of bilateral relation with Slovenia and the advancement of relations in the region. We had open and friendly talks with our Slovenian counterparts and we have the impression that Slovenia as part of the region understands us better. We asked that our message be communicated to the other EU states, and that is to continue with Serbia’s process of European Integration”, said Ragus.
