On the occasion, the Committee members toured the National PET Centre at the Clinical Centre of Serbia, the potential location for the production of cyclotron radiopharmaceuticals.
Following the debate, Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic convened the continuation of the Committee sitting for Thursday, 26 April and urged the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Science to consult so that they might come up with a common compromise solution to the problem to present to the Committee, which will then proceed to adopt conclusions.
In the continuation of the sitting on 26 April, the Committee Chairman informed the members of the Committee on Science and Technological Development on the official letter sent by the Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Health informing the Committee that they have reached a mutual conclusion on the production of positron emission tomography (PET) radiopharmaceuticals in the Republic of Serbia. The official letter, signed by the line ministers, states that the ministries managed to reconcile the views of the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences and National PET Centre, concluding that the conditions for the operation of two cyclotron plants should be created, one in Vinca and another at the PET Centre.
Considering that the line ministries came to a common solution with the support of the Committee on Science and Technological Development, the Committee members noted said conclusion.
