Seventh Sitting of the Health and Family Committee

At the sitting held on 20 April, the members of the Health and Family Committee reviewed, in principle, the Bill on Biomedical Assisted Reproduction and the Bill on Transfusion Medicine, submitted by the Government.


Doc. Dr Ferenc Vicko, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health, elaborated on the bills, while the sitting was also attended by representatives of the Biomedicine Directorate.

Vicko stated that the Bill on Biomedical Assisted Reproduction offers a more detailed definition of the field and makes this type of service more readily available, adding that medical professionals had fully contributed to the drafting process. In the course of the debate the MPs mainly focused on surrogacy and the rights of the child conceived through biomedical assistance to know the identity of the parents. Following the debate, the Committee adopted the Bill on Biomedical Assisted Reproduction, in principle.

The Bill on Transfusion Medicine advances and specifies the conditions, organization, activities and supervision of transfusions and also adjusts them to EU regulations, said Doc. Dr Ferenc Vicko. In the debate the Committee members asked for clarification of certain parts of the Bill. Following the debate, the Committee adopted the Bill on Transfusion Medicine, in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Sci. med. Darko Laketic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dr Muamer Bacevac, Milovan Krivokapic, Dr Vesna Rakonjac, Dr Svetlana Nikolic Pavlovic, Dr Danica Bukvic, Dr Dragana Barisic, Desanka Repac, Olivera Ognjanovic, Dr Dragan Vesovic, Dr Ljubica Mrdakovic Todorovic, Danijela Stojadinovic and Branka Stamenkovic.
