Security Services Control Committee Visits Military Intelligence Agency
On 20 December 2022, the members and deputy members of the Security Services Control Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia visited the Military Intelligence Agency.
The Committee members were received by the Director of the Military Intelligence Agency Major General Zoran Stojkovic and associates. The Director of the Military Intelligence Agency informed the MPs, Security Services Control Committee members and deputies, about current geopolitical developments and the security situation in the region, pointing out that the Military Intelligence Agency has the necessary resources to monitor all current events that may have an impact on the security of the Republic of Serbia.
The Committee members had the opportunity to visit the premises of the Military Intelligence Agency, talk with the Agency members and get answers to all of their questions. The Committee members were presented the competences and organisation of the Military Intelligence Agency, as well as the missions and tasks of the military delegations of the Republic of Serbia. The Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic reminded the attending that, in the previous period, the Committee had advocated for the expansion of the network of military delegations and provided unequivocal support to the Military Intelligence Agency on that count as the only external security service of the Republic of Serbia. The existing network of military delegations, which has been expanded over the past few years, was found to be able to make it possible for that the Military Intelligence Agency to adequately respond to all assigned tasks.
In addition to Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, the following Committee members and deputy members also took part in the visit: Slavisa Bulatovic, Aleksandar Markovic, Jasmina Obradovic, Darko Jovanovic, Ugljesa Markovic and Vladimir Gajic.
In the coming period, the Committee will visit the Military Security Agency to familiarise itself with the organisation, competences and mode of operation of the military security services in order to make all the necessary preparations to conduct supervisory visits.
