The coordinator of the National Assembly’s Sustainable Development Goals Focus Group Dr Milorad Mijatovic took part today in the thematic social dialogue "Sustainable Development Goals - Serbia 2030", held in the Palace of Serbia and organised by the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue.

The attending were addressed by Gordana Comic, Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Jadranka Joksimovic, Minister for European Integration, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Françoise Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, and Francine Pickup, UNDP Resident Representative in Serbia, as well as other senior officials.

In the course of the meeting, the importance of achieving sustainable development goals for the citizens of the country, as well as the future generations, was repeatedly pointed out, as well as that the implementation of the goals is complementary to Serbia's reform process and accession to the European Union, that achieving the goals requires the synergy of all state bodies, with the participation of the non-governmental and academic sector, and the business community.

In his speech, National Assembly Focus Group coordinator Dr Milorad Mijatovic outlined the National Assembly’s engagement in monitoring the implementation of sustainable development goals since 2017. He pointed out that it is vital to determine clear priorities and approach the realisation of the goals in an organised manner. Finally, he announced that the MPs will discuss the initiative to propose the adoption of a resolution on the sustainable development goals in the National Assembly, which would be binding for this, as well as every succeeding Government.
