Brnabic: Serbia and Israel Will Continue to Strengthen Friendship and Overall Cooperation

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic said today that she hopes Israel and Serbia will continue to strengthen their friendship and cooperation in all areas - economy, culture, sports and science.

In Jerusalem, after a meeting with Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, Brnabic said that Serbs and Jews have always stood together.

"Our friendship and political relations, as you said, date back a long time. The Serbian and Jewish peoples always stood side by side and suffered a lot, especially during the Second World War. We must make sure that the world never forgets this and that there is no revision of history, but that the Holocaust is remembered,'' said Brnabic.

She pointed out that over the last few years, the political and economic relations between Serbia and Israel have continued to strengthen.

The Serbian National Assembly Speaker extended her condolences to the Israeli officials for the death of five Israeli soldiers in a bomb explosion in the north of Gaza.

"I know this is a very difficult day for you all. I consider it a privilege and an honour to be here today in Israel, with you. I want to thank you for the invitation and invite you to visit Belgrade,'' said Brnabic after the meeting with Ohana.

The Serbian National Assembly Speaker arrived in visit to Israel yesterday, and today she is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Saar and the President of Israel Isaak Herzog.
