Agriculture Committee Deputy Chairman Stamenkovic emphasised the importance of the visit of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture considering that it reflects the continuity of agricultural cooperation not only on the level of the National Assembly and Russian Duma’s respective committees, but also on the level of cooperation between the two countries’ executive government. On the occasion, he briefed the delegation members on the Agriculture Committee’s intense work in the previous period. focusing mainly on harmonising the adopted laws with European legislation. Stamenkovic stressed the importance of the agreements Serbia signed with Russia, Turkey and Argentina to regulate the issues of customs, product certification and taxation of goods.
Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tarasov highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between scientific research facilities of the Russian Federation and Volgograd Region and their Serbian partners. Tarasov hopes that the result of the bilateral visits would result in numerous cooperation agreements between the two countries. The meeting also touched on promoting cooperation between the Belgrade and Novi Sad universities and the Volgograd State University.
The visit of the delegation of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture was realised as part of the cooperation between the Volgograd State Agricultural University and the Belgrade University’s Faculty of Agriculture aimed at improving scientific and educational cooperation in the agro-economy sector between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia. In the course of their stay, the delegation visited the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad where it had the opportunity to learn about the innovations in agricultural production and agribusiness, as well as Serbia’s export potentials and product placement onto the Russian market.
In addition to Minister Tarasov, the delegation of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture comprised Prof. Dr Alexey Semeonovich Ovchininkov, Rector of the Volgograd State Agricultural University (VolGAU), Prof. Dr Elena Nikolaevna Patrina, Prorector for education and international cooperation at VolGAU and Maxim Alexeyevich Ovchininkov, Intrustbank branch manager.
