PFG with Slovenia Meet with Slovenian PFG with Serbia

The members of the PFG with Slovenia met today with a delegation of the Slovenian PFG with Serbia, headed by Predrag Bakovic.

The Head of the PFG with Slovenia Milija Miletic welcomed the guests, saying that Slovenia remains one of the most active supporters of Serbia’s path to the EU. Miletic said that Slovenian companies in Serbia employ over 35,000 citizens which is a testament of the two countries’ good economic cooperation, reminding the guests of the Kosovo-Metohija issue and Serbia’s wish that it be resolved in a manner acceptable to both the Serbian and Albanian side.

“We expect you to support our push to revoke the 100% customs tariffs imposed on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, Miletic told the Slovenian parliamentarians.

The Head of the Slovenian PFG with Serbia Predrag Bakovic thanked the hosts for the invitation to an official visit to Serbia, hoping that the friendly relations would spread to all the areas of cooperation between the two countries. He reaffirmed his country’s support for Serbia’s European integration, stressing that Slovenia understands the circumstances surrounding the Kosovo-Metohija issue and is aware that without dialogue it would not get better and that the imposition of taxes and establishment of security forces does nothing to pacify the situation.

The officials agreed that the relations between the two countries are good, speaking also of the use of IPU pre-accession funds especially for infrastructure projects, succession of the former-Yugoslav republics, uniform regional development of Serbia and Slovenia’s best practice in the field, support of environmental protection and conservation, healthcare, agriculture and cooperation between twinned Serbian and Slovenian towns.

The delegation of the Slovenian PFG with Serbia continues its visit to Serbia with a meeting with the Mayor of Nis and the Chief of Nisava Administrative District, and a visit to the Municipality of Svrljig where they will present their experiences concerning the revival of rural areas and agricultural production and learn more about the situation concerning the succession of the former Krka pharmaceutical factory.
