National Assembly Speaker Receives New Brazilian Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the new Brazilian Ambassador José Mauro Da Fonseca Costa Couto in a courtesy visit today.


Assembly Speaker Dacic welcomed the new Brazilian Ambassador, hoping that the existing friendly cooperation with his country would continue. He praised the bilateral relations characterised by a high degree of mutual understanding, with no outstanding issues, adding that there is room to intensify cooperation at various levels, especially the parliamentary. Dacic added that he expected Ambassador José Mauro Da Fonseca Costa Couto to have the help and support of Serbia’s state leadership so that during his mandate the political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two countries would advance.

Ambassador José Mauro Da Fonseca Costa Couto said he expected the development of the overall relations between Serbia and Brazil to gain momentum in the upcoming period, especially in the economic sphere. He stressed that during his mandate he would endeavour to promote cooperation in the area of energy and production of biofuel, as well as agriculture, sports and education. He also added that the Brazilian side is interested in reactivating the parliamentary exchange slowed down by the COVID-19 pandemic.

National Assembly Speaker Dacic took the opportunity to again thank Brazil for its principled support in the Kosovo-Metohija matter and Serbia’s efforts to come to a mutually acceptable solution to the southern province through negotiations.
