Dacic and Escobar agreed that relations between the US and Serbia have been following an upward trend and there is mutual readiness to deepen them. Escobar stressed that the US strongly supports Serbia’s European integration process, as well as that of the entire region, and expected progress in the coming period.

Dacic and Escobar discussed the upcoming elections in Serbia, to be held on 3 April 2022. The National Assembly Speaker pointed out that Serbia is actively working to improve its electoral process by implementing agreements reached in the inter-party dialogue. Escobar expressed confidence that the upcoming elections would be held in a fair and democratic atmosphere and that all the political parties would take part in them. He emphasised the importance of the role Ivica Dacic played in the inter-party dialogue.

Responding to Escobar’s questions, Dacic informed him about the judiciary reforms which necessitated constitutional amendment and explained that the decision to change the Constitution, confirmed in the referendum held on 16 January 2022, would be confirmed by the National Assembly next week. Escobar praised the progress achieved in the judiciary reform processes and the successfully conducted referendum to confirm the constitutional amendment.
